10 tips to secure your smartphone

In recent years, malware has spread considerably. Installed to steal personal or business information, malware have grown considerably. It becomes essential to raise employee awareness and apply cybersecurity tips to your daily life. Given the large volume of sensitive information you hold, we have prepared a list of 10 tips to better secure your smartphone.

1. Only install approved applications
Only install applications from trusted sources (reputable vendors, Apple App Store, Google Play or corporate app store).

2. Manage application permissions carefully
When a new application requires permissions, make sure it really needs it. You can always go back to your system settings and revoke application permissions.

3. Always keep your smartphone close by
Never leave your device unattended, turned on, without a lock code.

4. Enable device encryption and lock screen
Make sure you enable encryption on your device (newer smartphones have it by default). Also activate the lock screen with a complex and secure password, and remember to update it regularly.

5. Enable remote deletion
If your smartphone is lost or stolen, it is possible to trigger the remote deletion of data from the device to secure your sensitive data.

6. Apply relevant updates
Smartphone manufacturers regularly release updates to their operating systems. Install them to benefit from security patches.

7. Control your wireless connections
Beware of criminals hijacking public Wi-Fi networks, and use VPN tunnels. Turn off your wireless connections (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) if you don't need them.

8. Use communication encryption software
For confidential communications, consider using encryption software: whether for voice, SMS, messaging or file transfers. Several solutions are available on the market to seamlessly provide end-to-end encryption for your communications.

9. Avoid traveling with sensitive data
To limit the risks while traveling, do not travel with sensitive data. Instead, retrieve them once you reach your destination with a secure cloud storage solution.

10. Beware of phishing
Phishing is a major threat that impacts both smartphones and PCs. As a general rule, do not open any links in a suspicious e-mail or SMS.

More and more people are using their smartphones, which creates risks on a daily basis. To protect you from the growing threat of mobile malware, we have developed a unique and secure solution.
